Alan Stanford Scholarships

To support future technology leaders, the Society for Information Management Indy Chapter awarded $2,000 Alan Stanford Scholarships to four students from the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology, IUPUI. The recipients, Chase Cresgy, Dejan Davis, Michael Inneh, and Mei Paw received their awards on April 1st during the 42nd Annual Bepko Awards Ceremony Convocation at the Indiana Roof Ballroom.

Indiana Aspiration in Computing Awards

SIM Indianapolis is a proud sponsor of the annual NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Award. The NCWIT Indiana Award for Aspirations in Computing honors young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests. Awardees are selected for their computing and IT aptitude, leadership ability, academic history, and plans for post-secondary education.


WinIT Women in Technology Summer Camp

The Indy chapter provided $2,250 for the 2015 WinIT Women in Technology summer camp held at IUPUI. For 2016, SIM Indianapolis is sponsoring $3,250, which will help cover camp costs.

VEX Robotics

SIM Indianapolis is sponsoring the Robotics Club at Northview Middle School in Washington Township. The Indy chapter is providing $2,000 to the club for the upcoming VEX Robotics competition season.

Indiana Aspiration in Computing Award

SIM Indianapolis is a proud sponsor of the annual NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Award.  The NCWIT Indiana Award for Aspirations in Computing honors young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests. Awardees are selected for their computing and IT aptitude, leadership ability, academic history, and plans for post-secondary education. View the 2015 winners here.

WinIT Women in Technology Summer Camp

The Indy chapter recently sponsored the WinIT Women in Technology summer camp held at IUPUI. The $2,250 sponsorship made it possible for 12 girls to attend the technology camp. One of the parents reported, that when asked about the camp, her daughter mentioned how much she enjoyed the site visit to Rook, saying, "There were lots of people working with computers. You know, I could get a job like that!"

This year, SIM Indy teamed up with Women & High-Tech in awarding $5,000 in scholarships to Indiana Aspirations in Computing recipients. The NCWIT Indiana Award for Aspirations in Computing honors young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests. Awardees are selected for their computing and IT aptitude, leadership ability, academic history, and plans for post-secondary education.

Alan Stanford Scholarships

After interviewing several candidates, the SIM Outreach committee awarded $1,000 Alan Stanford Scholarships to four students from the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology, IUPUI. The recipients, Adam Fernung, Jasmine Herbert, Shelly Moline and Justin White received their awards on April 4th during the 40th Annual Bepko Honors Convocation at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Indianapolis. Starfish Initiative

Starfish is an Indianapolis-based nonprofit organization whose focus is to increase Marion County high school graduation success and college persistence rates among low-income students through its acclaimed mentorship model. SIM Indy is exploring ways to partner with Starfish either as mentors or by offering scholarships to promising students who are interested in pursuing an education and career in Information Technology.
